Steinmetz re-signs

Western Sydney Wanderers FC have tonight confirmed the re-signing of Football Ferns midfielder Malia Steinmetz for the upcoming Liberty A-League season.

Steinmetz is set to play in her second season with the Red & Black after joining the club from Perth Glory in 2021/22.

The midfielder featured in nine matches for Western Sydney with her efforts rewarded in multiple recent call-ups to the New Zealand national team.

Steinmetz said she was eager to continue her growth at the club.

“My first season at Wanderers was so pivotal for me personally. It helped me grow so much as a player and got me mentally in the right frame of mind for the career I’m aspiring to have playing this epic game,” said Steinmetz.

“This club did so much for me last season so I did want to come back and give back as much as I could as a player to the legacy that is here.

“The facilities and people have also always been great and I know it’ll be another good step for me to further my football career.

“The goals are always the classic, we’ll be getting that double- league and cup winners. And I have no doubts about it.

“Might sound like a broken record but we have nothing to lose and we’ll be ruthless as always out there. It’s going to be something special.”
