From 21 December 2017 to 14 January 2018, this edition of the Summer Football Festival is a major opportunity for families with kids under 12 given free entry* to every match.

“This is football’s Christmas present to families,” said FFA chief executive David Gallop.

“Over the holidays most parents are wondering what they can do with their kids that is fun and affordable.  The answer is to take them to see the Hyundai A-League and Westfield W-League.”

“It’s a unique experience in Australian sport and for those going for the first time, it might just be the start of a lifelong passion,” concluded Gallop.

The football extravaganza highlights begin in the Hyundai A-League this Thursday when Brisbane Roar FC meet Perth Glory at Suncorp Stadium followed by the Melbourne Derby on Saturday evening as the must see match and then Adelaide United hosts the Central Coast Mariners on Boxing Day. In round 13, the Central Coast Mariners will then once again stage their traditional New Year’s Eve fixture at Central Coast Stadium, this time against the Wellington Phoenix and the Western Sydney Wanderers FC will ring in 2018 when they face Melbourne City FC on New Year’s Day at ANZ Stadium.

With the top four teams of the Westfield W-League within three points of each other, the top of the table clash between Brisbane Roar FC and Perth Glory in Perth on Friday 29 December will have a big bearing on who will be the main contender for the Premiers Plate. The Round 10 clash between Sydney FC and the Newcastle Jets will also be of interest with the Sky Blues finding a rich vein of form in the past month.
