We’re crossing the border into Eastern Sydney this Saturday for the tenth Sydney Derby. Here’s everything you need to know about it.
The match: NRMA Insurance Western Sydney Wanderers takes on the team from Eastern Sydney this Saturday at Allianz Stadium with kick-off at 7:30pm.
The history: Having played nine times in the past, Sydney Derby X is the chance for Wanderers to even the ledger to four wins each. There have been two draws.
The first timers: With a number of new signings, there will be players who will be experiencing the Derby atmosphere for the very first time. Players such as Scott Jamieson, Jacob Pepper and Dario Vidosic have already spoken out about how they’re looking forward to it while others as Mitch Nichols and the Spanish trio have all experienced derbies elsewhere.
The regulars: Allianz Stadium has sold out for the fourth straight time, and combined with every Derby at Wanderland selling out it means this is the eighth straight Sydney Derby to sell out.
The debut: Alberto has been promoted to the first team following his recent recovery from a pre-season injury. If Alberto managed to take the field, it will be the Spanish centre back’s Hyundai A-League debut.
The place to watch: As always, Fox Sports 505 is your destination if you cannot be at the match in person. It will be broadcast live from 7:30pm while you can listen live on the following stations:
- 702 ABC Sydney
- 666 Canberra
- ABC Local Radio NSW
- Grandstand Digital & Online
- ABC Radio Mobile App: A-League Live
