NRMA Insurance Western Sydney Wanderers CEO John Tsatsimas says the Wanderers match-day experience will be like no other when the new Parramatta Stadium opens its doors in 2019.
The NSW Government today unveiled the winning design for the new 30,000 seat stadium, which will boast the steepest stands of any venue in the country.
With construction set to begin early next year, the stadium will boast world-class facilities including WiFi as well as a busting precinct that will provide pedestrian and transport links, and improved access to Parramatta Park.
Tsatsimas said the new design will importantly cater to the best interests of Wanderers fans.
“We don’t say it’s a Western Sydney Wanderers ground. It’s a stadium for the people of Western Sydney but the Western Sydney Wanderers are prime tenants and we want to be represented at the ground,” he said today.
“We’re still waiting on the specifics of that stadium and the plan as such but we’ve had some great input into the design of the stadium and we will wait to see what elements are integrated into that plan.
“Predominately, one prime consideration for us is the safe standing we will hope that it will be in there but we will wait to see the specifics of that.”
Tsatsimas said that the stadium will boast an atmosphere that will help take the Wanderland experience to the next level.
“It needs to replicate, to a significant degree what was formerly at Parramatta Stadium. I have no doubt that the new western Sydney stadium will do that.
“We’re very excited about it coming to fruition and being a reality.”
Construction giants Lendlease will build the stadium, which will see the creation of more than 1200 jobs in Western Sydney.
Work to demolish Pirtek Stadium will begin in early 2017 with the new venue scheduled to open in early 2019.
