New signing Rocky Visconte said he was ready to make the most of the lifeline thrown to him by the NRMA Insurance Western Sydney Wanderers.

The former Brisbane Roar forward said he would bring versatility and speed to the Wanderers- attack.

“I am a very versatile player and I can play on the left, I can play at left back, I can play in the middle and I can even play on the right,” Visconte said.

“I think I bring speed and attack.

“I need to train for a bit and get some match fitness and I am hoping that I can get to my best and I will be ready.”

There were no doubts about his decision to join the Hyundai A-League-s newest Club.

“I had heard a lot of positive news about what is going on down here at Western Sydney,” he said.

“They are sitting in the top four so they must be doing something right.

“I am 22 now and I want to start playing regularly and if it is not happening at one club then you have to find another one.

“I have been given this opportunity and I best take it now.

“When I found out the Wanderers were interested in me I had no doubt in my head that I wanted to be part of what they are doing.

There is something special happening here and I want to be part of it.”

Visconte, who would not be eligible to play before January 14, said he still had twelve rounds to prove himself and he was chasing a contract for next season.

Coach Tony Popovic said Visconte could potentially add to the squad-s left side attack and cover for injuries and suspensions.

“We have a small squad and when you look at what is happening now you need to be able to cover for the unexpected,” Popovic said.

“Rocky will add depth and bring options for us being a left footed player and we are pleased to have him.

“Tahj (Minniecon) has a foot problem and we don-t know how long he will be out for so it is prudent to bolster the depth of our squad.”

Popovic said Striker Dino Kresinger was two to three weeks away from playing again and forward (Minniecon) had an ongoing foot problem and was out indefinitely.
