Wanderers and Western Sydney University extend partnership until 2027/28

Western Sydney Wanderers FC are proud to announce a three-year extension of their longstanding partnership with Western Sydney University with the collaboration set to continue through to the end of the 2027/28 season.

Originally formed during the club’s 2013/14 campaign, the partnership has grown into one of the most impactful relationships in Australian football, underpinned by a shared commitment to opportunity, education, and the Western Sydney community.

As part of the renewal agreement, Western Sydney University will continue its support of the Wanderers’ Ninja A-League Women’s team, while furthering strengthening their role as the Major Partner of the Wanderers Girls Academy, reinforcing a joint commitment to the development of female footballers both on and off the pitch.

The partnership also places a strong emphasis on providing students with meaningful, real-world experiences, including internship opportunities across the football club, planned education days, and access to scholarships that support academic and professional growth.

Western Sydney University will continue to deliver one of the club’s most significant community ticketing initiative, providing free tickets to students for every single Western Sydney Wanderers home match at CommBank Stadium.

The program has played a vital role in engaging young people with the club, driving attendance, and fostering a strong connection between students and football in Western Sydney.

Together the Western Sydney Wanderers and Western Sydney University remain committed to creating pathways, empowering the next generation and strengthening the connection between education, sport and community across the region.

Western Sydney Wanderers CEO Scott Hudson said the extension reflects the strength and shared values of the partnership.

“Our relationship with Western Sydney University is one of the longest-standing and most meaningful partnerships in Australian football, built on a shared commitment to opportunity, education and the people of Western Sydney,” said Hudson.

“From support for our Ninja A-League Women’s team and serving as Major Partner of our Girls Academy, to creating real-world pathways for students through internships, education days and scholarships, the partnership continues to deliver impact well beyond the football pitch.

“We’re incredibly proud to extend this partnership through to the 2027/28 season and to continue working together to empower the next generation across our region.”

Western Sydney University’s Vice-Chancellor and President, Distinguished Professor George Williams AO, said the partnership with Western Sydney Wanderers highlights the importance of education and sport working hand in hand.

“Western Sydney University is proud to extend our partnership with the Western Sydney Wanderers. Our shared vision of connecting education, sport and community will uplift the region,” said Professor Williams.

“Together we’re championing grassroots sport and lifelong learning, creating opportunities that will shape brighter futures for young people.”
