Wanderers to battle for Grand Final berth

The Western Sydney Wanderers Foxtel National Youth team will be despartely seeking maximum points when they take on the FFA Centre of Excellence at Popondetta Park this afternoon.

Ahead of their bye next week, the Red & Black will need three points in what will be their last match of the regular season to ensure they are still in the equation for the top spot that grants a Grand Final berth.

The Wanderers currently sit in second, two points behind league leader Central Coast Mariners, who last week inflicted a 3-1 defeat on Trevor Morgan’s side.

Western Sydney will be confident of bouncing back against a FFA Centre of Excellence squad who have struggled this season, registering only one match so far.

Last week, the Centre of Excellence were on the end of a 5-2 drubbing against Sydney FC and the Wanderers, who boast the league’s best attack, will be aiming for a similar result.

With only first place from Conference B advancing to the Grand Final to meet the winner of Conference A, the Wanderers know that nothing but a win will suffice as their season draws to a close.
