Wanderers Conclude Annual School Blitz, Deepening Community Connection Across Western Sydney

The Western Sydney Wanderers have wrapped up another successful edition of the club’s annual School Blitz, completing a week of extensive school visits and community engagement activities across the region during the International Break.

The initiative, which has become a cornerstone of the Wanderers’ community calendar in recent seasons, once again underscored the club’s commitment to being an active and positive presence in the lives of young people throughout Western Sydney.

Across the week, Wanderers players travelled to dozens of schools to meet students, answer questions, run football activities, and share their experiences from life in the A-Leagues.

The School Blitz is designed to inspire students, create lasting memories, and demonstrate the club’s belief that football has the power to strengthen communities, build confidence, and bring people together.

This year saw players engage with thousands of young fans in classrooms, school halls, sports fields, and even at the Wanderers Fives facility, where several After School Club visits were held.

The 2025 Blitz also provided the perfect platform to introduce the Wanderers’ revamped School Ambassador Program, a strengthened initiative designed to formalise and enrich the club’s relationship with schools throughout the area.

The program offers schools a direct line to the Wanderers, giving teachers the opportunity to act as their school’s champion for football and a point of contact for club-led activities. The aim is to bring the game to life in school communities, with ambassadors given access to player appearance opportunities, community activations, professional development experiences, gala day involvement, and ongoing club support.

This enhanced program reflects a broader commitment from the Wanderers to invest in local schools and empower educators with tools that help foster participation, wellbeing, and school spirit. Viewed alongside the School Blitz, it represents a year-round effort by the club to ensure students feel connected, motivated, and inspired by the possibilities football can offer.

Throughout the Blitz, Wanderers players visited a wide range of schools across the region, bringing football and inspiration directly to students.

On Monday 10 November, Alyssa Ng-Saad visited Blue Mountains Grammar School, Gabriel Cleur engaged with students at Oatlands Public School, Alex Bonetig met young fans at Kingswood High School, and Dylan Scicluna inspired students at St Justin’s Primary School in Oran Park. The day concluded at Wanderers Fives, where Josh Brillante and Aidan Simmons hosted an energetic After School Club session with students from Lethbridge Park Public School.

Tuesday saw Danika Matos and Alana Cerne connect with students at Emmaus Catholic College, Jarrod Carluccio brought football fun to Henry Fulton Primary School, while Alex Bonetig and Aimee Hall engaged students at Magdalene Catholic College.

At St Andrew’s Primary School in Marayong, Nate Barrie led an interactive session, followed by an After School Club visit at Wanderers Fives featuring Alex Gersbach, Phillip Cancar, Amy Chessari, and Ella Buchanan.

On Wednesday, Holly Caspers and Cushla Rue visited Chullora Public School, Lawrence Thomas and Bozhidar Kraev inspired students at Seven Hills High School’s support unit, and Ena Harada, Amy Barker, and Alaat Abdul-Rahman visited St Joseph the Worker in Auburn.

Brianna Edwards and Olivia Price took part in activities at Auburn West Public School, while Gabriel Cleur led an engaging session at the After School Club in Werrington Public School.

Thursday included visits from Alaat Abdul-Rahman at Strathfield South High School, Aydan Hammond and Tristan Vidackovic at Mary MacKillop Catholic College, Brandon Borrello, Talia Younis, and Frida Karaberis at Clancy Catholic College, and Tristan Vidackovic also connecting with students at Governor Philip King Public School.

The week wrapped up on Friday with Brandon Borrello inspiring students at Bonnyrigg Heights Primary School, followed by Ricky Fransen hosting the final After School Club session at Caddies Creek Public School.

The Wanderers’ annual School Blitz has once again demonstrated the club’s dedication to supporting the Western Sydney community, providing memorable experiences for students and strengthening the connection between schools and their local A-League club.

With the introduction of the refreshed School Ambassador Program, this year marks the beginning of an even stronger partnership with educators and school communities, ensuring that football will continue to be a vibrant and impactful presence in classrooms across the region.
