Western Sydney Wanderers FC have today confirmed the departure of Wanderers Academy Technical Director Ian Crook.
Known fondly at the club as Crooky, the club’s inaugural Academy Technical Director had the fundamental role of building and establishing the Wanderers Academy back in 2014 as well as being an important link to the A-Leagues team.
A highly respected coach, Crooky has not only helped develop the next generation of Wanderers players but also coaches and support staff.
During Crooky’s time as Academy Technical Director, he has helped steer the club to multiple Football NSW Club Championships, Grand Final victories in the National Premier Leagues, Youth League Championships as well as represented the club at multiple prestigious overseas football tournaments.
In 2014, Crooky was an assistant coach when the club won the AFC Champions League.
In recent years, Crooky has also played an instrumental role in the wider Western Sydney football community and oversaw the creation of the club’s Pre-Academy Development Program and Future Wander Women Programs.
The Wanderers would like to thank Crooky for his immense contribution to the club over the last eight years and wish him all the best in the future.
