Wanderers Liberty A-League coaching update

Western Sydney Wanderers FC have today provided an update on their coaching staff for the upcoming Liberty A-Leagues season.

The Wanderers have confirmed the departure of Liberty A-League head coach Kat Smith effective immediately.

Robbie Hooker will now step in to replace Smith until the end of the 2023/24 Liberty A-Leagues season.

Following a prolific playing career both internationally and domestically, Hooker began his coaching career in the United States with New York Power in the WUSA (Women’s United Soccer Association).

Hooker returned to Australia in 2008 when he was named the inaugural coach of Canberra United, guiding the side to a historic Grand Final appearance.

After a successful stint at Canberra, Hooker was appointed roles in both the Socceroos and Matildas set-ups for several years and more recently played an integral role in Football Australia’s coaching education programs.

Hooker has joined the club from today and brings with him rich coaching pedigree and experience from all levels of the game.

The new head coach will be in attendance at the club’s Member & Fan Forum held at Club Marconi tonight.
