Western Sydney Wanderers FC have tonight confirmed the re-signing of goalkeeper Sham Khamis for the upcoming Liberty A-Leagues season.
Khamis will play in her fourth season for the Wanderers and is coming off the back of a very successful season in the National Premier League (NPL) Women’s competition.
The talented shot-stopper was part of the Macarthur Rams squad that were named back-to-back Champions of the competition.
Khamis is a well-respected veteran of the Liberty A-Leagues competition, lining up between the posts for the 13th time this season.
A proud local, Khamis is using her experiences at the Wanderers to give back to the next generation.
“I’ve got a couple more years in me as long as I stay nice and fit, and healthy.
“(The Wanderers), I grew up in Western Sydney my whole life. I’ve always been someone who wants to be someone who plays for a club that feels like home, Western Sydney is home.
“Being one of the senior players in the squad, I see it as an opportunity to pass on all my experience and be somewhat of a mentor to the younger players coming through to show that there is a path for female footballers here.
“I’m big on making this club number one in the country and by doing this, giving all the young players the knowledge and experience. Then hopefully we can see the club number one in the country.”
