Wanderers re-sign Scicluna on two-year deal

Western Sydney Wanderers FC have today confirmed the re-signing of midfielder Dylan Scicluna for the next two Isuzu UTE A-League seasons.

The 20-year-old joined the Wanderers in 2023 and went on to establish himself as an integral part of the Wanderers midfield, featuring in 25 matches over two seasons and scoring one goal.

Scicluna was a bright spark in the Red & Black’s 2024/25 Isuzu UTE A-League campaign and unfortunately suffered a devastating Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury in December which has seen him sidelined until next season.

Western Sydney Wanderers head coach Alen Stajcic said that Dylan was a key player for the club in the future.

“Dylan is a key re-signing for us in setting a platform for the young players that will be the foundation of this club in the next few years,” said Stajcic.

“Having established himself in the first team, Dylan. has shown that he will be a key player of us in the future.”

Western Sydney Wanderers midfielder Dylan Scicluna said he was eager to return to the pitch next season.

“It’s going to be a little bit emotional, because it’s going to be a long road to get back there (to previous form),” said Scicluna.

“I have to focus on taking it day by day, that first game back I’m going to have the biggest smile on my face and I just want to get stuck in straight away.

“My aim for the next two years with the Wanderers will be to get myself back physically and mentally stronger. So that I can start next season with flying colours, with the confidence and self belief that I had before I got injured.

“And then, for that season, I want to take it game by game. Individually building myself back up and helping the team as much as possible.

“Hopefully we can be successful, winning games back-to-back and go on runs as a team. I hope we can win the league and go on to qualify for the Champions League.”
