Wanderers sign Beadling

Western Sydney Wanderers FC have confirmed the signing of Tom Beadling for the upcoming Isuzu UTE A-League season.

The Australian central midfielder and defender has spent majority of his life in the United Kingdom, having been part of Sunderland’s Academy since he was eight year’s old.

After 11 year’s in the Black Cat’s Academy, Beadling was sent on two loan stints at League One side Bury and Scottish Championship side Dunfermline Athletic where he played regular first team football.

At the end of his deal at Sunderland, the 26-year-old signed with Dunfermline on a permanent deal which saw him feature in close to 50 matches over two seasons for the Pars.

More recently, Beadling has been at his hometown club Barrow in League Two where he has made 40 appearances over two seasons.

This season will mark Beadling’s first in the A-Leagues and he is set to arrive next week to Wanderers Football Park.

Western Sydney Wanderers head coach Mark Rudan welcomed Beadling to the club.

“We are very excited to have a player like Tom at the club and welcome him back to Australia for his football,” said Rudan.

“Tom has spent the last two decades honing his craft in some really tough leagues, so we welcome his experience and wish him safe travels to Western Sydney.”

Beadling said he was hoping to have a successful season at the Red & Black.

“Returning to Australia was always an intention of mine. I feel like now is the perfect time for me to do so, I’m at a good age and after speaking to this club my mind was made up,” said Beadling.

“I’m looking forward to experiencing a new competition and excited to see what the A-Leagues is all about. I’m expecting a good standard of football and a very competitive league so I can’t wait to get going.

“Personally, I have my own goals and targets but ultimately I’m coming to the club to play games and have a successful first season.

“The facilities, infrastructure and fan base at the club is fantastic and it is matched with great ambition.

“The club has a drive for success and I want to be part of that.”
