Western Sydney Wanderers FC are proud to confirm the signing of Football Fern Milly Clegg for the upcoming Liberty A-Leagues season.
Clegg joins the Red & Black off the back of a successful season with Wellington Phoenix where she won the Golden Boot in her first season of the domestic competition.
At only 17 yearās old, Clegg has already been in the running for the A-Leagues Dolan Warren Award and was recently named in New Zealandās 23-player FIFA Womenās World Cup squad.
Head coach Kat Smith welcomed the emerging talent to the club.
āAs touted by the local media and experts, Milly Clegg is the best centre-forward prospect New Zealand has produced in at least a decade,ā said Smith.
āIt was evident that when given A-league minutes, her presence on the pitch was pivotal and, in most cases, resulted in the ball in the back of the net. This notable emergence has caught our eye and can turn the dial on our attacking plights.
āSheās got pace, skill, technique, vision and thrilling, raw ability.ā
Clegg said she was excited to join the club.
āIām really excited to join Western Sydney Wanderers and be based in a professional environment overseas,ā said Clegg.
āI enjoyed my first season in the A-Leagues with Wellington Phoenix and learnt a lot from the experience. I canāt wait to take on this new challenge.
āThe Wanderers is a great opportunity for me. I love scoring goals and hope to be adding to this next season with Western Sydney.ā
