Western Sydney Wanderers FC have today confirmed the signing of midfielder Milly Bennett for the upcoming Liberty A-League season on a scholarship deal.
Bennett is set to be part of her second season with the Red & Black having signed a youth development contract at the start Of the 2023/24 Liberty A-Leagues season.
During the A-Leagues off-season, Bennett has continued her development at the Football NSW Institute where she has played in the National Premier League Women’s competition for the last four years.
The midfielder has frequented national team selections and earlier this year was named in the CommBank Junior Matildas squad for the recent AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup in Indonesia and also was part of the Australian Schoolgirls Football Team that won the U19 Dallas Cup.
Bennett said she was going to continue working hard to hopefully make her debut in the domestic competition this season.
“I work very hard, I am very passionate, but I think I can keep going at any point in the game wherever we are. My work ethic is a big positive in my game, and something that has got me her today,” said Bennett.
“I think to get my debut in the Liberty A-League is a huge goal for me, and getting game time overall, but mainly I want to improve myself as a player -that is something that is really important for me.”
Head coach Robbie Hooker said that he can definitely see a place for Bennett in the squad for the upcoming season.
“During last season, Milly was impressive in her drive and ability to fit in with the squad both on and off the pitch. We have seen immense growth in her as a player and are hoping to see her establish herself as a serious contender within the regular squad,” said Hooker.
