Wanderers sign striker Morris

Western Sydney Wanderers FC have confirmed the signing of striker Maliah Morris for the upcoming Liberty A-Leagues season.

Morris has arrived in Western Sydney after a recent stint in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) with Orlando Pride where she made multiple appearances in their pre-season campaign and went on to sign as an injury replacement in April.

The forward had a prolific college campaign at Clemson University and won a number of awards including being named in the 2022/23 All-ACC Academic Team, 2022 Third Team All-ACC and was crowned twice the ACC Offensive Player of the Week.

The upcoming Liberty A-Leagues season will be Morris’ first time in the competition with head coach Kat Smith excited by the attacking addition.

“As a powerful striker who can carry the ball, hold up play, is strong in the air and works hard for the team, Maliah has a lot of attributes that we hope can see her prove to be a success with the Wanderers,” said Smith.

“We’re excited for Maliah to add another element to our attack.”

The Western Sydney Wanderers Liberty A-League team will kick off their campaign with a blockbuster Sydney Derby at Allianz Stadium on Saturday 14 October 2023.
