Wanderers to face Everton in Sydney Super Cup

CommBank Stadium will host an exciting match-up between the Western Sydney Wanderers and English Premier League club Everton in the newly created Sydney Super Cup.

Football rivalry will be on full display as the pride of Western Sydney take on one of English football’s oldest and longest serving top flight clubs at Wanderland on Wednesday 23 November.

It will be the first time the Wanderers have played an international match at their home ground since taking on Leeds United down to the wire in the opening football event at their new-look stadium in July 2019.

The game will pit Wanderers Head Coach Mark Rudan against legendary EPL manager Frank Lampard who will be taking charge of his first full season as the boss of the Blues.

The Wanderers v Everton event will be part of a blockbuster three-match series that will also see Scottish Premier League champions Celtic play Sydney FC on November 17 at the newly opened Allianz Stadium and Everton take on Celtic at Accor Stadium, Sydney Olympic Park on Sunday 20 November.

The series is part of the new Sydney Super Cup which will be a bi-annual football event held in Sydney and will bring Europe’s top football teams to NSW every two years.

Everton have competed in the highest division for a record 118 seasons.

They are a club that is close to many Australian football fans’ hearts after the successful career of Socceroos legend Tim Cahill at the club.

Backed by the NSW Government through its tourism and major events agency Destination NSW and Venues NSW,  alongside event promoters TEG Sport, Left Field Live and VenuesLive, the event will further highlight the return of major global events to Sydney’s shores as NSW continues to lead the way in hosting major sport and entertainment events.
