Western Sydney Wanderers trio Nathan Barrie, Miguel Di Pizio and Atiya Waraga have been selected in the 23-player CommBank Olyroos squad for two international friendlies against Korea Republic U23s in October.
The three Red & Black representatives will link up with the national team for the October international window, with matches against Korea Republic to be played at polytec Stadium in Gosford on Saturday 3 October and Tuesday 6 October.
CommBank Young Socceroos Head Coach Trevor Morgan will oversee the Olyroos activity as Australia begins a new cycle towards qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
For the Wanderers, the selections see three members of the club’s A-League Men squad recognised at international level.
Defender Nathan Barrie earns selection alongside midfielder Miguel Di Pizio, who joined the Red & Black ahead of the 2026/27 season, and young forward Atiya Waraga.
Waraga’s selection continues an exciting period for the Wanderers Academy product, who signed an A-League scholarship contract with the club earlier this year and has featured throughout the Red & Black’s pre-season preparations.
The October camp represents the first step in Australia’s LA28 campaign, with the Olyroos initially working towards qualification for the AFC U-23 Asian Cup Japan 2028.
Pre-qualification matches for the tournament will be held in June 2027, before the AFC U-23 Asian Cup determines Asia’s representatives at the Olympic Games.
The upcoming fixtures will also mark the first time the Olyroos have played on Australian soil since September 2019.
Korea Republic will provide the first international test of the new cycle, with the opening match at polytec Stadium on Saturday open to the public.
