The Western Sydney Wanderers U14 Girls have capped off an outstanding season in style, defeating Northern Tigers FC 2–0 to be crowned Football NSW Youth League One Champions.
Having already secured the Premiership in the final round of the regular season before producing an impressive semi-final victory over Gladesville Ravens, the young Red & Black headed into Saturday’s Grand Final with plenty of momentum.
The Wanderers made a confident start to the decider, controlling possession and setting the tempo throughout the opening stages.
Their pressure was rewarded in the 22nd minute following an immediate impact from substitute Amity Winwood-Smith. After beating her defender and driving into the penalty area, Winwood-Smith delivered a dangerous ball across goal, with Audrey Grace on hand to force it home and give the Wanderers a deserved lead.
Northern Tigers looked to respond before the break, but the Wanderers remained composed defensively to take their 1–0 advantage into half-time.
The Red & Black continued to dictate proceedings after the restart and doubled their advantage in the 39th minute through a brilliant individual effort from Jacinta Bell.
Collecting the ball outside the penalty area, Bell showed outstanding footwork to weave her way through the Tigers defence before calmly finding the bottom corner with her left foot.
The Wanderers continued to create opportunities as the match progressed while showing maturity beyond their years to control the closing stages and see out a memorable 2–0 victory.
The result completes a remarkable campaign for the U14 Girls, finishing the season as both Premiers and Champions after an outstanding year of development, consistency and performances in the Red & Black.
