The NRMA Insurance Western Sydney Wanderers are ready to meet the biggest challenge of their short existence.
Coach Tony Popovic said his team was brimming with confidence and was ready to lift to the test of a red hot Adelaide United FC at Parramatta Stadium on Friday at 5pm.
The rampaging Wanderers also won two in a row earlier in the season but could not extend that run to three.
Popovic said this time the team had more confidence, more experience and was up to the challenge.
“The challenge now is can we put three results together on the bounce?” Popovic said before training on Thursday.
“If we play to our potential we have every opportunity to achieve that goal.”
The Wanderers recently accounted for champions Brisbane 1-0 and cross city rivals Sydney FC 2-0.
They lost 1-0 to Adelaide away in Round Two.
“It was our second game of the season and I would like to think that we have certainly improved since that game,” Popovic said.
“We gave them a good match on that day but overall they were clinical with the opportunity they had and hopefully we will return that on them and get the three points here at Parramatta.
“They are doing very well and Kossie (Adelaide coach John Kosmina) has a very good team there and they are growing in confidence and they seem to be scoring at will.
“We know it is going to be tough but all of the players here at our club are looking forward to that challenge.
“It is always nice to come up against a side that is in a good vein of form and can score from anywhere on the park.
“It is a great test for us and tomorrow night should be a very good atmosphere and a very good match.”
