The Western Sydney Wanderers will take centre stage in world football next year when they host Chelsea FC in the 2026 Sydney Super Cup at Accor Stadium on Tuesday 28 July.
This will be the first-ever meeting between the Red & Black and the reigning FIFA Club World Cup champions on Australian soil, a landmark moment for the club, its members, and the Western Sydney community.
“This is an incredible moment for our members, fans, and partners,” said Scott Hudson, CEO of Western Sydney Wanderers FC.Â
“Playing Chelsea FC, the current FIFA Club World Cup Champions, for the very first time in our history is something our players, members, and the Western Sydney community will never forget.
“To host a team of Chelsea’s calibre on home soil, as part of the Sydney Super Cup, is a landmark occasion for Australian football and a chance for us to test ourselves against some of the best in the world. We can’t wait to make history together.”
The Sydney Super Cup will feature four blockbuster matches across two weeks, including the historic London Derby between Chelsea FC and Tottenham Hotspur, and a marquee women’s fixture between Chelsea FC Women and the A-League All Stars Women on 12 August.
But for Wanderers members and fans, the spotlight will be firmly on their team as they take on one of the world’s elite football clubs.
