Western Sydney Wanderers FC have today confirmed the re-signing of shot-stopper Sarah Willacy for the W-League 2021/22 season.
Willacy is set to play in her eighth season of the W-League and her second with the Wanderers after making the move to the club from Adelaide United last season.
The talented keeper featured in eight matches for the club last season with three of those being clean sheets.
Head coach Catherine Cannuli praised the retention of Willacy.
“Sarah’s experience in the competition was very important for us in our spine last season and we welcome her back to the Red & Black,” said Cannuli.
“We look forward to continuing to work with Sarah and push her to be at her very best.”
Willacy said the bold move to Western Sydney has been one that she has enjoyed.
“I really enjoyed my first season with the Wanderers. Moving to Western Sydney was a bold move for me, but I really enjoyed the environment that the Wanderers have created,” said Willacy.
“I feel like I can continue to develop my strengths and abilities with the level of coaching I experienced at the Wanderers and want to keep building on that as an individual and with the team.
“As a team, we want to keep building on what we achieved last year to ultimately reach the goal of playing Finals Football. For me personally, my goal this season is to keep building on my performances from last season, work hard and play consistently well.”
