Western Sydney Wanderers FC have today confirmed that former captain Rhys Williams has retired from professional football.
Following a very lengthy rehabilitation process after a ruptured hamstring tendon, Williams has now received medical clearance to officially retire from the game.
Williams joined the Red & Black in July 2021 and went on to make six appearances before being sidelined.
The defender came to the Wanderers with a wealth of experience having been part of the Middlesbrough set-up for a decade as well as having stints in Asia with Al-Qadisah in the Saudi Premier League and A-Leagues outfits Perth Glory and Melbourne Victory.
The Western Sydney Wanderers would like to wish Williams and his family all the best in the future.
