The Western Sydney Wanderers Football Club and midfielder Yianni Perkatis have today parted ways with the early termination of the player’s contract allowing him to pursue alternate playing opportunities.

The 21-year-old was part of the Wanderers Foundation Foxtel Youth League squad and made his first-team debut in the title-clinching match against Newcastle Jets in season one. Perkatis has since appeared nine times for the Red & Black in the Hyundai A-League and FFA Cup.

Perkatis said while he will miss the club, he has made memories that will last a lifetime.

“There’s some great people here and I’ve made friends for life; I’ll always cherish the moments I had with the boys in the change room, on the field and in the gym,” said Perkatis.

“One of my personal highlights was my debut against Jets in season one when we won the Premiership and getting to play in the semi-final two weeks later, but you can’t beat becoming the Champions of Asia.”

Wanderers CEO John Tsatsimas wished the midfielder well on his football journey.

“Yianni has been a great ambassador for the Western Sydney Wanderers and we wish him the best of luck on his football journey,” said Tsatsimas.

Perkatis has departed the Club with immediate effect.
