Younis pens two-year scholarship deal

Western Sydney Wanderers FC have confirmed the signing of forward Marcus Younis on a two-year Isuzu UTE A-League scholarship deal.

A familiar face in the Wanderers Academy, Younis has been part of the club’s system since he was 12 year’s old and is set to play in his seventh season at the Red & Black.

Progressing from the junior ranks to the A-Leagues team, Younis trained with the senior squad during the FIFA World Cup break and went on to make his debut against Melbourne City in mid-January.

The fast-paced and exciting winger has frequented Australian national team squads and most recently was part of the U18s squad where he played against Portugal and England.

Wanderers head coach Marko Rudan congratulated Marcus on the scholarship.

“We would like to congratulate Marcus and his family on such a special moment in his career,” said Rudan.

“We have been delighted with his progression from Academy to first team football and we are eager to see his growth over the next two seasons.”

Marcus Younis thanked the club for their ongoing belief in him.

“To get where I am today has taken a lot of grit and hard work from myself and my family,” said Younis.

“I honestly wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for the support of my extended family, my parents and the club itself, they have always had belief and trust in me.

“I’m really thankful to all the staff here and the coaches to give me an opportunity to express myself and make my mark.

“A special thank you to the coaches now, specifically the boss (head coach Marko Rudan) for giving me another opportunity, for giving me a crack in excelling my career.”
