Wanderers defender Patrick Ziegler says the Red & Black will need to fight and be very prepared for their next clash this Friday night against Western United.
The Wanderers have a short turnaround for the fixture, having played in a frustrating loss to Perth Glory two nights ago at Bankwest Stadium.
Despite starting strong in the match, the Wanderers lacked confidence and struggled to stick to their structure for the entire match resulting int hem losing momentum and a vital three points.
“I think we started pretty well, we did a good job in the first minutes,” said Ziegler.
“Then we lost the momentum. They (Perth) were getting stronger and we didn’t respond to this.
“In the end I think it was deserved that Perth won this game.
“We have to learn from this, we again started well but then we have to have this consistency over the whole game.
“On one side we can win against anyone in this league but at the same time we can lose against anyone at the moment.”
Western United are in a similar position to the Wanderers who are now relying on their own results and others to progress to the Finals.
For Ziegler, it’s all about focusing on ourselves in what is set to be another do-or-die clash for the Red & Black.
“Western United will be motivated, it’s their goal to go to the Finals,” explained Ziegler.
“They have an experienced team and they have good players.
“We can’t be naive and go there to think we can handle this with ease.
“We have to fight, we have to be prepared for this and they will be motivated.”
