Alex Gersbach

Dynamic, experienced and proud to call Western Sydney home, Alex Gersbach returns to the A-Leagues ready to make a major impact in Red & Black.

Born in Auburn, Gersbach began his professional journey in 2014 with the Wanderers’ cross-town rivals, quickly establishing himself as one of the most promising young talents in the league. After two impressive domestic seasons, the gifted left-back secured a move to Norway’s Rosenborg BK, marking the start of a remarkable nine-year European adventure.

At Rosenborg, Gersbach featured in over 60 matches and enjoyed tremendous success, winning three Eliteserien titles, two Norwegian Cups (NM Cupen) and a Super Cup. His time in Norway also included a loan spell at French Ligue 2 side RC Lens, where he made 14 appearances.

Gersbach continued to broaden his experience with stints at NAC Breda in the Dutch Eredivisie, AGF in Denmark’s Superliga and French club Grenoble, amassing over 140 appearances across Europe. In 2023, he joined MLS side Colorado Rapids before returning to Europe with Swedish outfit Kalmar FF, adding another 20 matches to his name.

Now back in the A-Leagues on a two and a half year deal, Gersbach brings a wealth of international experience, leadership and a winning mentality. His return to Western Sydney is not just a homecoming, it’s a statement of intent.
