After three match days in the Westfield FFA Cup Round of 32, seven Hyundai A-League clubs remain after two huge boilovers.
STORY SO FAR
NPL clubs have really taken it to Hyundai A-League opposition, underlining the importance of the FFA Cup for these clubs and their improved level of play and preparation.
It’s been wonderful seeing NPL clubs blossom in the FFA Cup.
For example, for the first time, an NPL side had a two goal lead over A-League opposition when Blacktown went 2-0 up over the Mariners on Wednesday night.
And NPL Victoria club Heidelberg thoroughly deserved their 1-0 win over Perth Glory on Tuesday night this week.
There are no more NPL v A-League fixtures but with two all A-League clashes on August 9 to complete the Round of 32, we’ll end with five A-League clubs in the Round of 16 this year.
