Rodwell giving his all

Jack Rodwell on his impressive debut and giving his all for the Red & Black in the 2021/22 season.

Rodwell came on in the 77th minute of the Derby and looked almost certain to score with his powerful strike in the top corner just being saved by Sydney FC goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne.

The chance summed up both a positive and frustrating night for the Red & Black who gave their all in the match and only came away with a point.

“I thought it was in all the way. It was a great save actually,” said Rodwell on his close chance.

“It would have been the icing on my cake for my debut.

“But I thought the lads put it all out there, obviously we wanted to win and give the fans something to cheer about.

“We got a point and we’re onto the next one.”

Looking ahead, Rodwell is confident that he can make a difference to the Wanderers this season and if Saturday is any inclination, the Red & Blakc faithful should be confident for the future.

“I’m 30 years old and I still feel like that I’ve got the best years ahead of me still,” said Rodwell.

“That’s why I came here, I didn’t come here to come on holiday.

“I’m here to give it my all.

“We’ve got a great team here, great manager so let’s see what we can do.”
