Western Sydney Wanderers FC have today secured the loan signing of defender Jeong Tae-wook from Jeonbuk Motors for the upcoming Isuzu UTE A-League season.
The towering defender has arrived in Western Sydney with years of experience in the Korean top-flight with over 170 appearances to his name.
The 27-year-old has winning pedigree, having won the Asian Cup and AFC U23 Asian Cup with the South Korean national team which he also captained at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
On the domestic stage, Tae-wook was also the runner-up of the Korean Cup during his stints at his last two clubs.
More recently, the defender has featured heavily in Jeonbuk Motors local campaign and also played in their AFC Champions League Quarter Final against Ulsan HD.
Playing outside of Korea for the first time in his career, Tae-wook said he was excited for this new chapter of his career.
“I am so happy to be joining the Western Sydney Wanderers,” said Tae-wook.
“I am very excited to start my new chapter here, and I will try my best to live up to the expectations that the fans and club has for me.
“Thank you and see you on the pitch.”
Western Sydney Wanderers head coach Alen Stajcic spoke highly of Jeong Tae-wook’s experience.
“Jeong has played over 150 games in the K-League and played recently in the AFC Asian Champions League Quarter Final so he brings a wealth of experience to our team and sharing that with some of our younger defensive players will be invaluable,” said Stajcic.
