Wanderers confirm departure of five players

Western Sydney Wanderers FC have confirmed the departures of Marcus Antonsson, Jack Clisby, Dean Pelekanos, Jeong Tae-Wook, and Taiga Harper at the end of their Isuzu UTE A-League contracts.

Swedish striker Marcus Antonsson departs the club after two seasons in Western Sydney, having made 50 domestic appearances and scoring 12 goals.

The 34-year-old played a key role in the club’s record-breaking goal-scoring campaign and provided valuable experience and impact throughout his time in Red & Black.

Defender Jack Clisby concludes his second stint with the Wanderers, having rejoined the club ahead of the 2023/24 season.

Clisby was a regular presence in the backline and made 48 appearances in the A-Leagues competition.

Academy graduate Dean Pelekanos also departs the club after featuring in 14 matches. The 20-year-old midfielder returned to the Wanderers after spells in the National Premier League and showed promising development throughout his time with the senior team.

Korean defender Jeong Tae-Wook will return to Jeonbuk Motors Following the end of his loan spell. Jeong made several appearances for the club before a series of injuries unfortunately curtailed his season.

Goalkeeper Taiga Harper departs following the conclusion of his scholarship contract. Harper made his senior debut last season and has been part of the club’s Academy development system in recent years.

The Wanderers thank all five players for their contribution and wish them the best in the next chapter of their careers.

The club remains in ongoing discussions with the remaining players whose contracts conclude at the end of the 2024/25 Isuzu UTE A-League season.
