Western Sydney Wanderers FC have today confirmed the signing of A-Leagues Grand Final Champion Steven Ugarkovic on a two-season deal.
The experienced midfielder returns to the Red & Black for his second stint, bringing championship-winning experience and a deep understanding of the domestic competition.
A key figure in Melbourne City’s 2024/25 campaign, Ugarkovic returns to his hometown club with over 200 A-Leagues appearances and proven leadership credentials.

Renowned for his composure, consistency and work rate, Ugarkovic adds strength and experience to the Wanderers midfield as the squad prepares for the 2025/26 season under Head Coach Alen Stajcic.
Ugarkovic said he was keen to return, with a focus on success and giving back to the community.
“The opportunity to come home and play for my hometown club again, for a second stint, was something I’ve always wanted” said Ugarkovic.
“I’ve also matured and come to realise that this is where I truly want and need to be, for myself, my career and for my family.
“My goals are success and trophies on the pitch, of course, but just as important to me is the impact I can have off it. I want to give back to the club, the fans, and the wider community.”
Western Sydney Wanderers Head Coach Alen Stajcic welcomed Steven and his family back to the club.
“Ugarkovic coming back to his hometown club shows how much this place means to him. He’s grown a lot as a player and a person, and that maturity will really help the team. He’s focused on winning, but also on giving back,” said Stajcic.
“His commitment to success and his desire to support the community is exactly the mindset we want. Having him back isn’t just a boost for the team, but it means a lot to our members, fans and the wider community as well.”
