Head coach Geoff Abrahams reflected on the challenges of a congested schedule and the resilience the squad has shown in recent weeks.
“It’s tough. A lot of clubs go through these periods at different times, so you’ve got to trust all your players. We haven’t got a lot of them at the moment with a few injuries, but it’s about rotating the squad at the right time, looking at the data, and recovering well,” Abrahams said.
“They’re doing the right things by their bodies, and I’ve got a good staff who know how to manage them. Rotating the squad a little bit will help this weekend, but we’ll see where we’re at when Sunday comes.”

The Wanderers’ midweek clash against Melbourne City was a defining moment for the team, showcasing their defensive resilience and growing confidence.
“We went with a game plan to defend and disrupt what they do, and the girls were unbelievable. I thought they were a brick wall at the back,” Abrahams said.
“As a defensive unit, everyone stuck with each other, defended the box extremely well, and managed the game brilliantly. Holding out and winning against a top team is a massive result and keeps building that momentum. It’s got us back within the pack, which is good.”
Abrahams also highlighted the opportunity the Adelaide clash presents, noting the team’s record against the side and the challenge posed by a well-coached opposition.
“It’d be nice to go from three from three and four from four, but they play a similar style to us. We tend to match up well against those teams. The girls have been fighting lately, and I don’t see that changing. We’re going to be very difficult to beat.”
Adelaide United arrive at Wanderers Football Park following a 2-1 win over Melbourne City, a result that demonstrated their attacking quality and ability to grind out results under tough conditions.
Western Sydney, meanwhile, will be looking to maintain the belief and momentum that helped them secure their thrilling 1-0 victory over City, a match defined by resilience and a heroic defensive effort from Sham Khamis and the backline.
Wanderers members and fans are encouraged to travel to Wanderers Football Park on Sunday night to support the Wander Women as they look to continue their upward trajectory in the domestic competition.
