Western Sydney Wanderers FC can confirm that Gary van Egmond has made the personal decision to step away from the club at the conclusion of his tenure as head coach, with Saturday night’s fixture marking his final match in charge of the Isuzu UTE A-League team.
van Egmond communicated his decision with the intention of allowing the incoming Head Coach and football staff the space to begin shaping the next phase of the club’s football program.
Throughout a challenging period for the club, van Egmond has been widely respected for his professionalism, commitment and steady leadership, providing stability during a time of transition.
Western Sydney Wanderers CEO Scott Hudson thanked Gary for his contribution and commitment to the club.
“Gary has been the ultimate professional during what has been a difficult period for the club,” said Hudson.
“He stepped in and provided stability at a time when it was needed most, and his work has allowed us to begin planning with greater clarity for seasons ahead.
“We are incredibly grateful for the way he has conducted himself and the respect he has shown the club, the players and staff. On behalf of the Wanderers, we thank Gary and wish him, and his family all the very best for the future.”
