The Western Sydney Wanderers are proud to announce that our Walking Football initiative has been nominated for the Outstanding Community Partnerships category at the 2026 ZEST Awards.
Delivered in collaboration with Walking Football NSW, Blacktown City Council, Western Sydney Local Health District and the Western Sydney Wanderers FC, the program highlights the power of football to bring communities together and create meaningful social impact.
The initiative officially launched during Seniors Week with a successful Come and Try session at Wanderers Fives, attracting more than 50 participants from across Western Sydney.
Designed to promote active lifestyles, social connection and inclusion for older members of the community, the program provides a welcoming environment for participants of all abilities to stay engaged through football.
Following the overwhelming response to the launch event, the program will now expand into weekly sessions delivered by Walking Football NSW at Wanderers Fives every Friday morning.
The ZEST Awards nomination recognises the strength of collaboration between community organisations, local government, health services and football in creating positive outcomes across the region.
