NPL 1 Preview: Wanderers v Sutherland Sharks

The Western Sydney Wanderers play host to a third straight home fixture at Wanderers Football Park when they take on a visiting Sutherland Sharks side who sit just one position above in league standings.

An opportunity at hand for the Red and Black to enter the top six beckons this Saturday as they take on a visiting side who currently sit a position ahead in sixth place.

The Wanderers know a win this weekend would all but secure a move up the ladder come end of round, hoping to regain the momentum that has seen the Red and Black rise up the NPL Men’s NSW standings throughout the course of the season.

After suffering an unfortunate loss where they were held goalless against Sydney United 58 the week prior, the Wanderers were back to scoring when a late Jesse Cameron equaliser meant points were shared with the visiting St George City side last weekend at Wanderers Football Park

Withstanding the result of the weekend past, the Wanderers showed incredible promise in attack, hoping to restore the free-flowing football they ended the last month playing.

Their opponents, the Sutherland Sharks, arrive from Sydney’s south seeking a return to form themselves, following an unexpected loss at home to Blacktown City. They’ll also be seeking a chance at retribution, given the 3-2 loss they suffered at the hands of the Wanderers in the two sides first meeting earlier this season.

The ramifications all the same for the Wanderers and visiting Sharks side, a win at Wanderers Football Park this Saturday going a long way in the race for finals football.
