Western Sydney Wanderers FC have today confirmed the signing of former German Youth International midfielder Samantha Iredale from Danish side Fortuna Hjørring for the 2026/27 Season.
The 24-year-old arrives in Western Sydney having most recently represented Fortuna Hjørring in Denmark, where she was part of the side that secured the Danish league and cup double in the 2024/25 season.
Prior to her move to Denmark, Iredale spent three seasons with Arminia Bielefeld after developing through the VfL Wolfsburg system, where she featured at both youth and senior reserve level.
Iredale also brings international experience to the Wanderers, having represented Germany at U16, U17 and U19 level, making 15 appearances across the three age groups.
The move to Western Sydney will mark Iredale’s first experience in Australian football, with the midfielder bringing an energetic and aggressive style of play to the Wanderers ahead of the upcoming Ninja A-League season.
Wanderers Football Director Mal Impiombato said Iredale’s experience and exposure to international football was an ideal fit for the club.

“She has developed and competed in some strong football environments throughout her career in Germany and Denmark and comes to us with an intent to challenge for silverware having experienced success at Fortuna Hjørring.”
Wanderers Ninja A-League head coach Geoff Abrahams said Iredale would bring energy and attacking intent to the Wanderers midfield.
“Samantha brings a really exciting profile to our squad and has attributes that we believe will suit the way we want to play.”
“She’s aggressive, energetic and comfortable playing at a high tempo. She can drive forward with the ball, create opportunities for the players around her and also take responsibility in attacking areas.”

Iredale said the opportunity to move to Australia and represent the Wanderers was a challenge she had long been drawn to.
“Australia is a country I’ve felt drawn to for a long time, so having the opportunity to now call it home is really special to me.”
