Co-captain Caitlin Cooper on Sunday’s result against Melbourne Victory and ways the Red & Black can improve ahead of Sunday’s fixture against Perth.
The Wanderers came away with no points in their clash against Victory on Sunday at CommBank Stadium with a late penalty snatching all three points for the visitors.
It was a disappointing result for the Red & Black who despite their efforts, were unable to break down the Victory side.
“We came here (on Sunday) to get three points,” said Cooper post-match.
“I thought we gave it to Victory and they’re a quality side.
“It’s a bit unfortunate to lose on a penalty. It’s the way the game went and I’m happy with how we went overall.”
The Wanderers defence has gone from strength to strength as the Liberty A-League season has gone on with pressure now on the front third to start translating their efforts at training to the pitch on match day.
“I think defensively we’re quite strong, just moving forward we need to pick it up in the next few games,” explained Cooper.
“We obviously need to score goals to win games.
“I’m quite disappointed we didn’t get the three points but we move on.”
The Red & Black will next face Perth Glory away at Central Coast Stadium on Sunday night. Tune into the match live on Paramount+.
