Gombau: We need to fight

Wanderers head coach Josep Gombau says the team will need to fight hard this Saturday night against Victory to ensure that they have a place in the top six.

The Red & Black come into this weekend’s fixture after a very disappointing result against City, one which Gombau says the team needs to improve on quickly.

“Last week against City wasn’t good. I don’t think we played well and the effort that we put on the park wasn’t there,” explained Gombau.

“It’s something that we need to improve on this week if we want to get a result.

“We need to concentrate, we need to run more and we need to do things well.”

Looking ahead to Saturday’s huge match against Victory, Josep addressed the team’s recent efforts and highlighted the importance of getting a result from this trip.

“We spoke a lot with the boys and it’s something we have addressed (the team’s effort).

“For me, it wasn’t tactics, it’s more mental. We need to be strong, work hard and fight.

“We’re preparing for a big game. The last three games will be very important games for us as we want to be in the finals.

“Training has been good and we are ready to go.”
