Western Sydney Wanderers FC can today confirm safe standing will be installed at CommBank Stadium for tomorrow night’s blockbuster Sydney Derby.

The Australian-first safe standing area will see 1260 seats removed from CommBank Stadium’s lower northern tier and replaced with rails to accommodate 1260 standing spaces.

The Wanderers this morning confirmed that the fixture would proceed as planned with rain set to subside over the next 24 hours in the Parramatta region.

Following the extreme weather being experienced across Greater Sydney this week, the CommBank Stadium pitch was inspected and deemed fit for play for a single match.

The draining ability of the Stadium pitch is superb under most conditions, however rising Parramatta River levels and flooded water table in the surrounding precinct has slowed the release of ground water from the Stadium.

The Liberty A-League Women’s match between the Wanderers and Melbourne City has since been relocated to Wanderers Football Park at 12:05pm AEDT this Sunday 6 March.
