The Western Sydney Wanderers Academy will tonight be taking on Villarreal CF in the Semi Final of the 2018 Guangzhou International Championship.
The two sides meet after qualifying from the group stage of the tournament.
The Red & Black needed a win in their final group stage match against Dynamo Kyiv to progress to the Semi Final and their hard work paid off late in the second half when Gabriel Popovic broke through Kyiv’s defence and slotted home the opener.
A couple minutes later, Popovic replicated the same moves as his first goal but laid the ball off to De Robillard who tapped it in to make it 2-0.
The win marked the Red & Black’s second win of the group stage after thumping Asian arch-rivals Guangzhou Evergrande in the opening match of the tournament.
The Wanderers will now take on Spanish giants Villarreal CF in the Semi Final on Saturday night at 9:30pm.
