Schwegler signs

Western Sydney Wanderers FC are proud to announce the signing of Swiss International Pirmin Schwegler for the upcoming Hyundai A-League season.

The midfielder comes to the club with a wealth of experience having played in the top tiers of both the Swiss and German leagues.

Having started his career in the Swiss Super League at FC Luzern and Young Boys, Schwegler made the move to the Bundesliga where he played in over 250 matches for clubs such as Bayer Leverkusen, Eintracht Frankfurt, 1899 Hoffenheim and more recently, Hannover 96.

The 32-year-old led his team as captain on the park against Bayern Munich recently and will play in his first season overseas with the Red & Black.

Schwegler said he was looking forward to linking up with his teammates in the coming weeks.

“I am very excited to join the Western Sydney Wanderers and I’m counting down the days until I arrive,” said Schwegler.

“I am very proud to be part of the Red & Black and look forward to getting started.”
