Head coach Dean Heffernan on re-writing the recent narrative and the atmosphere in the team heading into tonight’s match against Newcastle Jets.

Heffernan’s side will be looking to build on their performance in Wednesday night’s Sydney Derby which saw them defeated 3-0 at Bankwest Stadium.
“Little details can mean so much and it just gave Sydney a little bit more momentum and confidence to keep pressuring us and visa versa,” said Heffernan.
“It’s been about focusing on ourselves really this week and knowing that we weren’t too far off. Regardless of the result, we were one pass away from doing a lot better in that game.”
The Red & Black have had a quick turnaround to tonight’s match at the Wanderers Football Park with Heffernan pushing aside any doubts the team won’t be refreshed and raring to go.
“The vibe is always good in this group, it has been from day one and I think every game for us is important,” said Heffernan.
“This is a game at our training ground, at our home ground, a pitch that we have played on quite a few times already so the ball is in our court and we know what we need to do to win the game.
“Everyone is confident and everyone is refreshed and recovered, so we’re really excited to get onto the pitch.
“With the game being three days later, it is important for us to rewrite what has happened a couple days ago in the Derby.”
