Western Sydney Wanderers FC are proud to confirm the re-signing of forward Erica Halloway for the remainder of the Westfield W-League 2020/21 season.

Halloway has re-signed with the club after recovering from an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury last season.

The fast-paced forward has spent the last 12 months working her way back from injury and is ready to now play in her sixth season of the W-League with the club.

Halloway’s return will see her resume her captaincy duties, sharing responsibilities with co-captain Caitlin Cooper for the remainder of the season.

Head coach Dean Heffernan welcomed Erica back to the club.

“It’s great to have Erica back in squad, she brings a level of calmness and leadership to our group which is what is needed in these games,” said Heffernan.

“Erica has worked incredibly hard coming back from a serious injury to challenge herself for a position in the squad. She gives other players confidence and she is a great leader on-and-off the field.”

Halloway said she was proud to be back after a difficult 12 months.

“It’s been a very long 12 months but the team has been such an incredible support network for me,” said Halloway.

“The rehab process for me was a lot longer than just a standard ACL as I had a lot of other issues in there so I wasn’t able to run until the six-month mark. It was a lot of time being alone and a lot of time on the bike machine.

“Over the last month, I’ve started joining in with the team and it has been unreal.

“I have always said the Wanderers are the only club I would ever play for and loyalty is a big thing for me.”
