Brisbane (seventh) are five points behind Western Sydney in sixth heading into Matchweek 17 – but have three games in hand on their Friday-night opponents. Warren Moon’s side can close that gap to two whilst retaining their three-game advantage over the Red and Black by securing victory on the road.

These two sides meet for the second time in just 13 days after a 1-1 draw at Moreton Daily Stadium on April 3. Riku Danzaki scored the equaliser for the Roar after Kwame Yeboah put the Wanderers ahead early in the piece.

That particular result was the first of three stalemates the Wanderers have notched on the bounce. A loss preceded the three consecutive draws, meaning Carl Robinson will send his side out on a four-game winless run.

Western Sydney’s recent dip in form has opened the door for the likes of Brisbane, Western United and Perth Glory to attack the top six, should the three teams placed seventh to tenth decide to rise to the occasion.

Brisbane defeated Macarthur FC on the road in Matchweek 16, ending their eight-game winless run. Dylan Wenzel-Halls was back amongst the goals in a potential season-reviver which will give the Queenslanders confidence heading to Parramatta to face the Wanderers.
