Western Sydney Wanderers FC are delighted to announce the re-signing of Tate Russell for the next two A-League seasons.

A product of the Wanderers Academy, Russell has been with the club since 2015 and has worked his way up through the ranks of the Academy to the first team.

Russell made his A-League debut in 2018 and went on to have a breakout season, playing in 12 matches.

Two seasons later and Russell has registered over 40 appearances and scored three goals, solidifying his place as the Red & Black’s starting right-back.

The 21-year-old defender said he was grateful to be continuing his journey at the club.

“I’m very proud to continue my development at the Wanderers, having been at the club for the last six years, it means a lot to me and my family to stay at the club that has given me so many opportunities,” said Russell.

“There’s still so many things I want to achieve while I’m at the Wanderers and I’m excited to continue working hard to grow and develop.

“It’s an honour every time I put on the Red & Black jersey and I’m ready to repay the faith the coach, members and fans have had in me since my debut.”

Western Sydney Wanderers CEO John Tsatsimas said he was proud of Tate.

“Tate has been with the club since the inception of the Academy and it has been a special journey watching him transform into both the player and person he is today,” said Tsatsimas.

“Tate is one of many players in our squad this season who have made the transition from the Academy to regular first team football and that is something our region, members and fans can be proud of.

“We are looking forward to continuing to support and watch his development over the next two years.”
