Wanderers legend Mark Bridge and Romeo Castelen have been voted by members as the two wingers in our Team of the Decade.
Born and bred in Western Sydney, Bridge was one of the Wanderers foundation players and joined the club in June 2012.
Bridge made his club debut in the Wanderers first ever match and scored the club’s first ever goal against Brisbane Roar on his way to winning the Wanderers Medal for Player of the Year, Golden Boot and Premiers Plate all his first season at the club.
In 2014, Bridge went on to play a significant role as part of the Australian side to win the AFC Champions League before winning his second Wanderers Medal for Player of the Year at the end of the 2015/16 season.
Bridge played a total of six seasons with the Red & Black and is one of the most decorated players in Wanderers history, having scored 38 goals across all competitions and is now the most capped Wanderers player of all time with 140 appearances to his name.
The much-loved striker is the only player to have won the Wanderers Medal for Player of the Year on two separate occasions.
Featuring in 250 Hyundai A-League matches and scoring 59 goals, “King Bridge” (proudly named by Wanderers members and fans) has left a lasting legacy from his tenure with the Red & Black.
Romeo Castelen joined the Wanderers in 2014 and featured in 53 matches during his two seasons at the club and scored 11 goals.
The 2014/15 Members’ Player of the Year is best remembered for his hat-trick in the memorable 5-4 Semi-Final win against Brisbane Roar.
Bridge and Castelen will now be honoured in a lapel pin that can be collected by Wanderers members during Season X at Wanderland.
Wanderers members can now place their votes for the club’s striker in the Team of the Decade.
