Cole voted left-back in Wanderers Team of the Decade

Shannon Cole has been voted by Wanderers members as the left-back in the club’s Team of the Decade.

A foundation player, Cole made his debut for the Red & Black in the club’s first-ever competitive match against Central Coast Mariners.

The versatile defender made 53 A-League appearances for the Red & Black over five seasons and scored two goals.

Cole played an instrumental role on the Wanderers 2014 AFC Champions League campaign where he scored three goals and played crucial parts in both legs on the Final on his way to being named in the Team of the Tournament and still to this day holds the record for most AFC Champions League appearances in the club.

The impact of Cole can still be seen at the Wanderers today, having penned the team’s victory song which he led five seasons and is still sung today.

Shannon Cole will now be honoured in a lapel pin that can be collected by Wanderers members during Season X at Wanderland.

Wanderers members can now place their votes for the club’s central defenders in the Team of the Decade.
