The NRMA Insurance Western Sydney Wanderers have signed fullback and Western Sydney local Scott Jamieson until the end of the 2016/17 season as well as securing defender Jonathan Aspropotamitis to a first team contract to see his continued development at the Club.
Jamieson is a valuable addition to the Wanderers roster as the 26-year-old comes off a highly impressive individual season with Perth Glory.
The Auburn native will return to play in Western Sydney for the first time since playing for his junior club Blacktown City in 2005.
Since then the 2008/09 Young Footballer of the Year has featured both abroad and domestically, seeing time at Bolton Wanderers, Adelaide United, Sydney FC and Perth Glory.
Tsatsimas has welcomed the addition of the four time Socceroo.
“We’re bringing another Western Sydney international home,” said Tsatsimas.
“The Wanderers aim to inspire and provide a pathway for the youth of Western Sydney and having another one of our own in the first-team helps show them what is possible.
“Scott has had a stand-out season at Perth Glory and we’re delighted to have him on board. He can play anywhere on the left flank and will add strength to our defensive and attacking stocks.”
Aspropotamitis made his first team debut in Round 10 against Melbourne City and followed that up with further assured displays in the centre of defence in the Hyundai A-League and AFC Champions League.
A total of nine appearances in Red & Black saw ‘Aspro’ win fans over with his mature performances and was enough to earn his first senior contract from Tony Popovic.
Wanderers CEO John Tsatsimas said the signing of the 18-year-old was a valuable acquisition for the club.
“Jonathan has impressed everyone at the club with his attitude and application since bursting onto the scene this year,” said Tsatsimas.
“He has done well and is further testament to our commitment to youth as one of five debutants from the youth team this season as well as one of eight current Young Socceroos at the Wanderers.”
