Foxtel Y-League Preview: Central Coast v Wanderers

Tate Russell

On Saturday morning, the Wanderers Foxtel Y-League squad will travel to Pluim Park to face Central Coast Mariners.

The Red & Black will be raring to go after a three-week break between games, due to a bye round and the postponement of last weekend’s match against Canberra United.

The Wanderers previous meeting with the Mariners in the Y-League competition was a success with the Red & Black defeating them 2-0 in December 2018 thanks to goals from Oliver Puflett and Fabian Monge.

Central Coast are currently second in Y-League Group B and are looking to bounce back after losing 5-3 to Sydney FC on Sunday night.

Abraham Majok scored for the Mariners in that game, while fellow former Wanderers John Roberts and Mario Shabow were also involved.

For the Red & Black, Mark Natta could be one to keep an eye on after making his Y-League debut for the club in the most recent game against Newcastle.

The central defender, who has only just turned 17, joined the Wanderers Academy after spending time at APIA Leichhardt and Sutherland Sharks. Also capable of playing as a left-back, Natta was one of several Wanderers who received call-ups to last month’s Young Socceroos Talent Identification Camp in Canberra.

Lochlan Constable was another one of the Academy players to be called up to that Young Socceroos camp.

Still only 18 years old, the midfielder has been a part of the Wanderers Academy since its formation in 2016. A former Blacktown Spartans and Sydney United junior, Constable has appeared in every Y-League game so far this season, and can also play in defence if required.
